Professor Michael O’Flaherty will consider the emergence of human rights law as a key element of the post-second world order and reflect upon whether it has lost its force. He will also consider how to breathe new life into the struggle for human rights today and the future.
Throughout this talk Professor O’Flaherty will refer to his experiences across the world over the last 25 years as a human rights advocate, including his time as a Member of the United Nations Human Rights Committee (2004-2012) and Chief Commissioner of the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission (2011-2013).
