PRAYERS FOR THE
80TH ANNIVERSARY
OF THE END OF
THE SECOND WORLD WAR (8 MAY}
FOR THE COMMEMORATION OF VE DAY
O God of truth and justice,
we hold before you those men and women
who have died in active service, particularly in the Second World War,
whose sacrifice brought Victory in Europe.
As we honour their courage and cherish their memory,
may we put our faith in your future;
for you are the source of life and hope, now and for ever.
Amen.
FOR THOSE WHO SERVE TODAY
O Lord God of Hosts,
stretch forth, we pray, your almighty arm
to strengthen and protect our service men and women.
Support them in times of conflict,
and in their rest and training keep them safe from all evil;
endue them with courage and loyalty;
and grant that in all things they may serve without reproach;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
A PRAYER FOR PEACE
O God, who would fold both heaven and earth in a single peace;
that the design of your great love lighten
upon the waste of our wraths and sorrows
and give peace to your church, peace among nations,
peace in our dwellings and peace in our hearts;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen
Last week…
Last Thursday, Northwood High School Band from the States ,
played at St Mark’s, as part of their tour in Italy.
It was a very enjoyable evening as we listened to a variety of different music from the young people.
The audience was very appreciative and all had a good time.
We hope they will return again and entertain us once again!
On Sunday, Linda and Leone were sworn in as
Church Wardens at St Mark’s.
They both took an oath to serve the Church
and support the Father Chris,
and he prayed for them.
We thank them for their service.
Please keep them in your prayers.
Music is a very important part of our worship.
You can listen to the hymns
we will sing this Sunday 11th May,
and the Mass setting
which we sing every week.
After the service
you are warmly invited
to have refreshments with us in our 15th Century Salone,
and to meet new people.
All are welcome.
